Fumed Oak Desk
With this design I sought to explore how raw unrefined surfaces work in relationship to the refined. The classic Modernist shape of the mitered carcass, provides the platform to explore the mark making of machining processes, on a form we are familiar with being highly crafted.
The Bandsawn texture, normally experienced outdoors on fences etc, is in stark contrast to the refined brass handles, a material and feature we are more familiar with luxury furniture.
