Unearthed Structure
The Unearthed Structure chair builds on the foundation of Primitive Excavations through the continued exploration of instinctive processes and the philosophy of learning to unlearn. Designed as an occasional chair for an imagined time and place, it embodies the essence of an object reclaimed by nature—distorted yet familiar, fed upon and eroded, shaped by the external forces of time.
Its form, marked by both desirable and undesirable growths, exudes a raw beauty, as though naturally formed and reformed over lifetimes. This chair continues the journey away from overrefined craftsmanship and geometric structural forms, embracing an organic, instinctual approach that honours the passage of time and natural evolution. A truly unique piece, it captures the transformative relationship between nature and design and the artists response to what craft is in this time.
